Q: Are international tuition fees covered by the CDT funding?
A: Funding arrangements differ by host university and by project. Please contact your preferred host institution for the most accurate information. Places for international applicants are very limited and therefore highly competitive.

Q: Which university will award my degree?
A: You will be registered with—and receive your degree from—the host university to which your project is allocated (Leicester, Loughborough, Birmingham, Warwick, or Nottingham). For example, if you are matched to a project at the University of Leicester, your final degree will be awarded by the University of Leicester.

Q: I would like to study at a university other than Leicester (e.g., the University of Birmingham). Should I still apply through the University of Leicester portal?
A: Yes. However, if an individual project advertisement from your chosen host university provides its own application link, please use that link to apply directly for that project within the CDT.

Q: May I select a preferred supervisor?
A: For the 2025 cohort, supervisors are normally confirmed after the interview stage.

Q: Will I have access to resources at the other CDT partner universities?
A: Yes. Certain resources—such as the first-year training programme—are shared across all partner universities and are available to every CDT student.

Q: I do not yet have evidence that I meet the English-language requirements for my preferred host university. Can I still apply?
A: Applications submitted without the required English-language documentation may not be considered for shortlisting. Please consult the admissions pages of your preferred host university for detailed language requirements.

Q: How long will I have to wait for an outcome?
A: Owing to the current volume of applications for the 2025 Cohort, please allow 4–8 weeks (and potentially longer during peak periods) for a decision.
